Upper Endoscopy - Colonoscopy

Upper Endoscopy - Colonoscopy

Gastroscopy (Gastroskopi) Gastroscopy is an imaging method that allows direct examination of the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum (the first part of the small intestine). This procedure is performed using a thin, flexible, and bendable tube-like instrument equipped with light and a micro-camera at its tip.

When is Gastroscopy Necessary?

  • In the diagnosis of diseases affecting the esophagus, such as difficulty swallowing, burning and pain behind the chest, and the sensation of bitter fluid coming into the mouth.
  • For the diagnosis of diseases related to the stomach and duodenum, such as upper abdominal pain, burning, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, treatment-resistant anemia, and unexplained weight loss.
  • To identify the cause of upper digestive system bleeding, manifested by fresh blood from the mouth, vomiting resembling coffee grounds, or black stool.
  • In the diagnosis of esophageal and stomach cancers.
  • Gastroscopy is more reliable than a medicated stomach X-ray in detecting inflamed areas, small ulcers, and tumors. Moreover, it allows painless biopsy collection through the gastroscope.
  • Additionally, special instruments passed through the gastroscope enable procedures such as dilation of strictures, removal of polyps (tumors) without the need for surgery, extraction of swallowed foreign bodies, and treatment of bleeding.

In our Gastroenterology department, various endoscopic examinations, including Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy, and Rectosigmoidoscopy, are conducted by our expert doctor.
